After a few upgrades since the car was last raced, Dave’s VL was bolted back up to the dyno for some fine tuning.

The car has previously run into the 8’s and still runs a Borgwarner rear end.

Looking forward to seeing Dave back out at the track to see what the car can do now with a bit more oomph behind it compared to when it last raced!

The 2 door Hilux Ute campaigned by the Whisson family was one of those left field cars that you don’t see (or hear) very often – and it definitely caught our eye.

Whilst taking the opportunity to get some more seat time in the car at the recent private track hire, the team managed to get the car down for the quickest pass they’d done to date and finished the day off with a new PB!

This relatively small capacity engine certainly punches out some serious horsepower and it has no issue picking up that front end on launch!

We’re definitely keen to get more of this one on camera and hope to see the car back again soon.

Colin Byrne has built one of the most insane Burnout Cars in Australia, with his Blown Injected 200 Series Landcruiser “KING CRUZA”.

Photos of the car were released prior to Motorvation and melted the Internet, the car then debuted at Motorvation where it took out the coveted People’s Choice Award and a Top 5 in the Grand Champion.

It was then featured in Street Machine Magazine and scored the highly sought after Front Cover.

It’s now time for some testing before the car hits the Burnout Pads in anger and I was invited along to the Pure Grun Testing ground for a couple of test hits in the car. With only a few small skids at Motorvation in the Driving events this was Colin’s first chance to actually get some time behind the wheel and test out a number of important aspects of the car (ie: Steering, Brakes, Data Logging) and making sure they iron out any teething issues, along with trialing a few different tyre sizes for future use.

Safe to say it all went according to plan with 2 sets of tyres now successfully destroyed.

The 200 Series Landrcuiser is running a 540 Cube Big Block Chev, 8/71 Supercharger and Mechanical Injection, the engine is only 10% over-driven at the moment to keep the Boost levels safe and the limiter set at 7,000rpm. It’s expected both will be dialed up very shortly. Underneath the car is a 2 Speed Glide, 4-Link Rear and 9″ diff. Sitting on a Bagged chassis over 24 inch Rims.

Colin would like to thank the following for the ongoing support:

– Altona Plumbing
– Allfast Converters
– Central Tyres
– Lethal Industries
– Race on Customs
– Chev Power
– ADR Engines

Thanks to Pure Grunt Performance once again for their ongoing support
