You might recognise the name, and possibly even that it’s another Pisconeri Mustang if you’ve been around our channel for a while…. The Pisconeri’s are Ford through and through with Ben Pisconeri’s 7 second SOHC powered 1968 Radial Drag Car Mustang also featuring numerous times on our channel.

This time we jumped in with Peter in his Historic Touring Car for the June 13th Race Day, the Mustang is owned and built for the sole purpose of being the fastest car it can be around our local circuit tracks.

Previously Peter raced his XW GS Falcon Street Car which dominated both at the drag strip and on the circuits – winning numerous races.

The plan for the Mustang was to build an even better track car with all the learnings Pete took from racing the Falcon, we’re pretty sure he has exceeded this goal with the Mustang already showing race winning form as Pete learns the car and makes improvements after each race day to make it even faster for the next time the car hits the track!

I can personally say that some of the fastest cars I’ve ever been in were owned and driven by Pete, and that he definitely played a part in my love for all things cars and racing. Our childhood was spent watching Pete race drag cars down at Ravenswood (before the Motorplex was even a thing!).

Being able to watch Pete now be as successful as he is in a different discipline of motorsport is a true testament to his expertise both on the track and at his workshop down in Waroona (Mainline Motors) where he Specialises in building some of the toughest Ford Motors in the country (and has done for over 30 years!).

We hope you enjoy this one, there are no fancy computers at play – this is all car and all driver with Pete happily winding out the unreal sounding 302 to 7500rpm and leaving the Big 351’s in his trail!

Keep in mind this is car is over 50 years old and in the spirit of Historic Touring Cars is not much different to how the car would have been back when they raced around the country in various top level motorsport categories!

The Chevy Z71 Silverado is not something you would usually expect to see out on track, but given it has come from the Reaper Performance Diesel stables it was probably something worth taking notice of!

With a 69mm Borgwarner Turbo, 4″ Exhaust, an Intake and Tune it lays down a healthy 1431nm of torque and upwards of 500hp – More than enough to get out of its own way!

The times may seem pretty run of the mill, but when you realise this car is likely to weigh in excess of 6000lb – it really puts things into perspective.

Running on 35″ Muddies and back with a 6 speed trans, the boys had some fun making a few hits in the big girl.
