We joined the Streetbuilt Racing Team for another day of tuning, this time it was one of the big hitting radial cars back from a fresh build and ready to go even BIGGER!

The Performance Towing LC Torana which in it’s previous form was a low 7 second quarter mile capable car – 7.201 @ 194.7mph to be specific and on a 275 radial tyre is now gunning to be the first to join the elusive 6 second club on a radial in W.A.

With 427 cubic inches to play with and fed by Twin Precision Gen 2 Turbos, this LS is one bada$$ little combo.

Jeff did his thing and worked away at the boost, fuel and timing curves checking the data after each pass before making adjustments – the end result was substantial!

Can’t wait to see the Torana back out and racing at the Perth Motorplex in the Outlaw Radial Class, and be there to see if it can be the first to grab that 6 second time slip!!

We joined the DS Racing and Streetbuilt Racing Teams for some late night tuning of this absolutely top shelf build of a Foxbody; and I when I say late night….. the car was in final assembly during the day and arrived and was unloaded off the trailer at the dyno AFTER 10:30pm 🙂

Dyno Pulls went well into the next morning, finishing up as the darkness was fading at around 4am.

Apart from some small adjustments needing to be made early on the car was flawless and punched out more and more power each pull, with Jeff keeping a close eye on vitals as he crept up on the tune.

A huge credit to Lorenzo, the Gullotto family and the DS Racing team for a proper weapon of a car that has been finished to the absolute highest degree!

Chassis fabrication was taken care of by Mik Waters Fabrication while all of the turbo fabrication was carried out by Danny from Spot On Performance & Fabrications. Paintwork by Kustom Rides Panel and Paint and final assembly carried out by the team at DS RACING themselves!

Looking forward to following this car and watching it throw down at the Perth Motorplex, the numbers this car puts out is no joke!!

WA Outlaw Radial Cars at Round 5 of the 2020 WA Drag Racing Championship Series.

The field was solid for this round with the usual suspects back again for more heads up action.. This time there was a new kid on the block ready to shake the field up – the Twin Turbo Big Block DS Racing 88 Foxbody!

The boys spent the day collecting data and making adjustments to dial the rear end of the car in, on the last pass of the day finally making some headway with a solid and smooth as silk pass.

The latter part of the day saw the cars really start to shine with side by side 7’s from the Commodores of George Kelly and Jarred Dowdell to a PB 7.3 pass from Kevin Boulton in the Trans Am!

Continuing on the good feedback from the last couple of videos and how they were filmed I thought I would continue in the same manner. I’ll be honest it’s definitely a challenge working with 2 lanes simultaneously, and also trying to not get run over given how quickly they push the cars through on the championship rounds – it doesn’t leave a lot of time to capture everything.

Let me know your thoughts, do you like this style of up close filming or do you prefer the trackside views for the Championship Rounds? Chuck your feedback in the comments below!

If you think the Motorplex team would be having a break after the massive Motorvation 35, you’d be wrong! Kicking off on Wednesday 20th January is the all-makes bike night at Whoop Ass Wednesday where motorbikes get half off the normal entry price to send it hard and

WA Outlaw Radial Cars at Round 4 of the 2020 WA Drag Racing Championship Series.

The field was small for this round but it was definitely quality over quantity, with side by side 7 second passes from the Streetbuilt Commodores to a genuine 8 second streetcar being the Turbo LS Ute driven to and from the track – the action was an 11/10.

It was the usual run of the mill day with track temps making for a few rounds of powerskids and a heap of power being pulled out of tunes to get the cars from A-B, once the sun went down and the temps dropped the boys were quickly putting all the power back and chasing those PB times.

I had some good feedback regarding how the last video (Streetbuilt Christmas Party) was filmed so I thought I would at least try and film one championship round in the same manner. I knew it was always going to be a challenge with 2 lanes running as opposed to 1 at the private day, and also trying to not get run over given how quickly the cars are moved through on the championship rounds – it doesn’t leave a lot of time to capture everything. Let me know your thoughts, I’m in two minds as I feel the action is captured better in the normal style of filming for Championship Rounds.

Also you may have noticed no feature car for this round, this was mainly due to a small field and not quite enough time to get organised properly but we should be back with a feature car for Round Five.
