This Saturday night South Gippsland will kick up a gear with the Nyora Raceway providing a Sprintcar and Christmas night for all. All of the local clubs’ local champions will also compete in their classes in a great way to enjoy a night out a weekend before Christmas. Saturday night at Wangaratta City Raceway the crowd was super pumped for a big night of Sprintcar action and local Sedan heroes, and they got both of those along with Mini and Lightning Sprint racing, Junior Sedan competition and a small but entertaining Demolition Derby. Alexandra and District Speedway Club have started there 2022/2023 season on Saturday night with the visiting Modified Sedan series headlining the action whilst the local Sports Sedan and Victorian Speedway Council and Speedway Sedans Australia Junior categories also determined their first winners of the club point score season. Drouin Speedway have completed their second race meeting of the season on Sunday with the annual Eliminator Cup for Standard Saloons sharing top billing with the Lucky 7s series for Unlimited Sedans and the Remember When, Remember Them first series round of the year for Division 2 Hot Rods. Horsham Speedway Club held its first event of the season on Saturday night with the Sprintcars and Street Stocks heading into the Wimmera to do battle along with the Trucks, Production Sedans, and the Unlimited Sedans. The Victorian Mini and Lightning Sprints Club held their first big feature of the season when together with the Wangaratta Speedway Club who hosted this weekend’s race meeting they were able to showcase Mini and Lightning Sprints in the ‘Skillys Tyre and Auto’ Highway Challenge. Current Australian champion AJ McTaggart from Sydney took victory in front of Harley Graham from Lismore and Jack Selmes, Danny Stone, and Heathcote racer Ally Moore. The new Speedway season is here, and Nagambie Speedway hosted the Victorian Mini-Lightning Sprints season opener on Saturday with Lismore New South Wales based Queensland and Victoria club member Harley Graham picking up the victory after a great day of racing for all.
