This Saturday night racing returns to Alexandra Speedway with the Modified Sedan state series round the main event attracting over twenty-five entries to this point and including Alexandra members Brody Chrystie, Matt Nelson, Kasey Garlick and Damien Miller amongst them the host club member drivers are keen for a front of the pack showing on the track they grew up racing on with all three drivers’ members for over fifteen years. Horsham Speedway Club held its first event of the season on Saturday night with the Sprintcars and Street Stocks heading into the Wimmera to do battle along with the Trucks, Production Sedans, and the Unlimited Sedans. The main attractions were the Sprintcars followed by the Street Stocks. The Victorian Mini and Lightning Sprints Club held their first big feature of the season when together with the Wangaratta Speedway Club who hosted this weekend’s race meeting they were able to showcase Mini and Lightning Sprints in the ‘Skillys Tyre and Auto’ Highway Challenge. Current Australian champion AJ McTaggart from Sydney took victory in front of Harley Graham from Lismore and Jack Selmes, Danny Stone, and Heathcote racer Ally Moore. The new Speedway season is here, and Nagambie Speedway hosted the Victorian Mini-Lightning Sprints season opener on Saturday with Lismore New South Wales based Queensland and Victoria club member Harley Graham picking up the victory after a great day of racing for all. On a new racetrack for the current club members, everybody was on an even playing field at the big Nagambie track. Each driver had three heats scheduled to qualify for the final. This Saturday night the Wangaratta City Raceway is set for a huge opening night of the season with the Sprintcars coming from all around Victoria to do battle in round one of the season after numerous disruptions down south to starting their season due to weather. Nyora Raceway got its season underway on the weekend finally after a weather affected start for everybody including the popular South Gippsland entertainment venue. Drivers had travelled with numerous classes with competitors from Mildura amongst those that made the trip into town. For eight classes competing, qualifying races had all been completed when the rain began during the finals.
