On December the 30th, the Ramsdale Wreckers Racing team headed to Sonic Speedway at Swan Hill for what driver Jacob Mills hope becomes a new frequent venue and event for the class. In a new event, Mills competed in the Northern Mallee Masters and came out on top after a rough and tough night of action that provided some competitors unwanted big hits and damage. Boxing night racing at Bairnsdale Speedway entertained with Sprintcars, Wingless Sprints, Ladies Standard Saloons and Standard Saloons featuring as the entertainment. Nyora Raceway have held their last event before Christmas on Saturday night and families and fans were entertained on track with the racing and with the Christmas shenanigans of the Grinch and Santa Claus whilst one lucky fan was given a bicycle from Nyora Raceway Inc. In racing the main events were the visiting Sprintcars and the Junior Sedan Promotional Association series round. The Sprintcars were fast, very fast and the eventual winner Shane Steenholdt scorched around the track in 13.5 seconds during the final. This Saturday night South Gippsland will kick up a gear with the Nyora Raceway providing a Sprintcar and Christmas night for all. All of the local clubs’ local champions will also compete in their classes in a great way to enjoy a night out a weekend before Christmas. Saturday night at Wangaratta City Raceway the crowd was super pumped for a big night of Sprintcar action and local Sedan heroes, and they got both of those along with Mini and Lightning Sprint racing, Junior Sedan competition and a small but entertaining Demolition Derby. Sprintcar competitors came from Tasmania, New South Wales and right around Victoria and at the end of the night, it would be a first time Sprintcar win to Ashley Cook from the Victorian Southwest after he defeated Terry Rankin and Albury’s Grant Anderson. Alexandra and District Speedway Club have started there 2022/2023 season on Saturday night with the visiting Modified Sedan series headlining the action whilst the local Sports Sedan and Victorian Speedway Council and Speedway Sedans Australia Junior categories also determined their first winners of the club point score season. Drouin Speedway have completed their second race meeting of the season on Sunday with the annual Eliminator Cup for Standard Saloons sharing top billing with the Lucky 7s series for Unlimited Sedans and the Remember When, Remember Them first series round of the year for Division 2 Hot Rods.
