It is the time of the year where many of the state and national championships are decided and with that, Wangaratta Speedway Club will host two Victorian titles out at Wangaratta City Raceway this Saturday night with the Victorian Production Sedan title and the Victorian Compact Speedcar titles to be decided this weekend, with support from the Standard Saloons and the Junior Open Sedans. The Victorian Grand Prix Midget Association headed to Wangaratta City Raceway for the latest event on the calendar with the annual Wangaratta Cup feature event up for grabs. Wangaratta City Raceway was the host venue for the Goulburn Ovens Sedans Victorian title on Saturday night (Jan 14th) with a healthy crowd enjoying the Carnival atmosphere around the facility as the local club continued to provide activities for families to bring their children to enjoy. Bairnsdale Speedway has been having a rough trot of it this season with serious accidents to competitors, and poor weather regardless of it being too wet or too hot affecting race meetings so far and this past Saturday the rain poured down on the track twice before any racing could get underway after track preparations whilst young Latrobe Valley racer Kaine Smith from the Junior Standard Saloons suffered a lower leg injury in a crash that ended the night for everybody as a major delay occurred waiting for the Ambulance to attend for a non-life threatening injury.
