Redline Raceway is all set to go this Saturday night to start their season after terrible weather seen cancellation of their first planned show a couple of weeks ago, this time Sprintcars and the Junior Standard Saloon Series headline the show along with competition from Street Stocks and the AMCA Nationals (Australian Motor Contest Association). Sprintcars competing are powered by CT 525 crate motors from the Chevrolets. In the second of its twilight Saturday race day shows this season Drouin Speedway fires up from 1pm until the early hours of the evening with a huge Crash and Bash and Dog leg racing event. Public knowledge shows that a traumatic and tragic racing accident occurred on Saturday (February 11th) that has resulted in the death of popular Standard Saloon competitor Stephen ‘Dougo’ Douglas just a few hours after he earlier won a heat race on his way to qualifying for the Chivers Memorial feature race. Nyora Raceway on Saturday night (11th February) attracted a huge crowd of motorsport fan’s when the All Star Sprintcars came into town for their annual show with a troupe of eighteen flyers and fans went home delighted when Brett Milburn from Somerville who had developed as a race driver at Nyora from a young age went on to take the feature race win. The Victorian Speedway Council Standard Saloon class makes its biggest appearance of the season at Daylesford Speedway this Saturday with the running of the Chivers Memorial honouring the father of David and the grandfather of Austin and Lachie who will all be competing in the race themselves along with a host of competitors from as far as Bairnsdale making the trip to compete.
