Ballarat’s home of motorsport Redline Raceway kicks off the new season this Saturday with local club racers given an opportunity to compete as club classes Street Stocks, Unlimited Sedans, and Standard Saloons providing that opportunity whilst the Grand Prix Midgets return to Redline with round two of their state series attracting a dozen entrants from the Goulburn Valley, Eastern Melbourne, and Geelong. Rosedale International Speedway played host to round one of the ‘Shake and Bake Diva’s Victorian Ladies Standard Saloon series for 2023/24 and after three hard fought qualifiers and a speedy feature event it would be Warragul racer Caroline Allen that would leave Rosedale victorious. For the second season running, Ladies from around Gippsland Victoria have put together a self-promoted series in which the competitors will race throughout the 23/24 season to determine a series champion. Motorsport fans headed back out to Kalkee and the Blue Ribbon Raceway on Saturday night (March 4th) for the latest high octane event headlined by the Pro-Sprints, Unlimited Sedans and Junior 1200 Sedans and were treated to a terrific night of racing. Bairnsdale Speedway Association action on Saturday (February 25th) was once again terrific with a new Victorian Sprintcar champion determined in the thirty-five-lap final when local East Gippsland born and raised racer Nigel Laity stormed to the finish line in front of another local Andre Nielsen and Dennis Jones from the Latrobe Valley. Other winners on the night included Bobby Devine in the Division 2 Hot Rods, Elise Halliday in Ladies Standard Saloons and Victorian Standard Saloon champion Jacob Vuillermin in that classes feature event. Saturday night (February 25th) at Alexandra Speedway the hard working volunteers and officials with a contribution from determined competitors made the track raceable a second time after they waited for the rain to finish after it hit the area as qualifying races were almost finished. Track repreparation and packing allowed every class to continue on and have their finals. Redline Raceway finally began their 22/23 season of Speedway on Saturday night with a very full house of speedway starved Greater Ballarat fans and on a terrific show the four individuals that won their class of racing include Redline’s own member Jason Degoldi who won the Street Stock final, visiting East Gippsland based Sprintcar racer Adam Greenwood won his class, Dean Heseltine won the Australian Motor Contest Association class and Harry Cecil from Poowong won the Junior Standard Saloon class in their first ever appearance at Redline Raceway.
