After two attempts to hold a race meeting have been curtailed by weather this season already, West Gippsland motorsport fans are hoping it can be third time lucky and we get in a race show this Saturday from mid afternoon and into early evening at Drouin Speedway.
The weather as I’m sure you’ve noticed was not in our favour for this one, with a call being made the day prior that the track was going to run the event rain hail or shine anyway as they wouldn’t be able to fit it back into the calendar if they postponed it..
So we all knew what we were walking into and rain it did.. not heavy, but that annoying constant amount throughout the day that ends up making everything soaking wet, but for the most part the track surface held out and we only stopped the racing twice for 30 or so minutes each to dry it out – all in all a pretty good day of racing considering, the dampness and super cold ambient air sure made for some very skatey passes.
Bailey again not holding back, had a pretty big job ahead of him getting the Torry down the track this round… with challenging and cold track conditions and a handful of power (and only his second outing in the car) he carried out a pretty spectacular drive job to keep the car safe from any major harm, and managed to drive away with only a small amount of wall rash on the bullhorn!
He did leave his mark on the concrete track wall livery though 🙂
Pretty awesome to see such professional car control from such a young driver, he really is impressive to watch – as is older brother Connor who ran the car last season!

The Victorian Mini-Lightning Sprints Club season is upon us, and the club has been busy in the off-season putting together a tremendous calendar that will see the class travel to venues they have not been at in recent years, along with continuing to compete at their old favourites that include the Nyora, Rosedale, and Laang tracks

One of the cars that caught our eye was this very tidy VF HSV Maloo sporting a pretty impressive Active Automotive Livery, and with a soft spot for HSV’s we weren’t going to miss the chance to grab a few clips of this one!

A couple of new additions to the field this season, one being a pretty impressive SVT Supercharged F150 from Xtreme Ford Tuning and another being a pretty radical looking Door Car with a slightly smaller engine combo than we would normally see – but nevertheless a very cool car to see in the mix!

With the VL and Torana making their debut in the radial class for this season it was awesome to see some fresh cars in the mix! With the Torana really hooking up later in the night, hopefully not too much damage as a result!

One of the local Jet Engine Powered Dragsters got the crowd going at the recent event showcasing all facets of the sport and venue!
A favourite with both big and little kids, hearing the jet turbine engines wind up and feeling the aftershocks as they put on a show and then lay down some blistering side by side times while burning the afterburners and trailing massive flames the whole way down the track !
