The addition of Hughes to the Erebus Academy presents a significant addition to the team’s roster for the 2024 Dunlop Super2 Series. Hughes joins Stewart, a fellow 86 series graduate who joined the Erebus Academy as a 12 year old karting star back in 2017.
While Stewart took top honours in the Super3 series in 2023, Hughes is no stranger to success. Having competed in the TGRA 86 Series in both 2022 and 2023, he not only secured the prestigious 2022 Kaizen Award but also claimed the most poles that year.
“Competing in the Super2 Series with Image Racing and Erebus Academy is an exciting new chapter in my career. Alongside Jobe, I am eager to get to Bathurst for the first round of the 2024 season,โ Hughes said.
CEO Barry Ryan said Erebus has long held a commitment to the grass roots of motorsport and the teamโs success in the 2023 Supercars Teams and Drivers Championships, alongside Stewartโs Super3 Championship win, had cemented the importance of programs such as the Erebus Academy.

โJobe is still only 19 years old but last year he showed exactly what we saw in him at 12. He has all the hallmarks of a future Erebus Champion and that is exactly what the Academy is about.
