Nyora Raceway Got a Start with Rain Winning the Night

Published: Tuesday November 29 2022

Nyora Raceway got its season underway on the weekend finally after a weather affected start for everybody including the popular South Gippsland entertainment venue. Drivers had travelled with numerous classes with competitors from Mildura amongst those that made the trip into town.

For eight classes competing, qualifying races had all been completed when the rain began during the finals. Only a handful of finals had been completed and as a result most of the results on race night were declared on qualifying points.  Results are as follows:

Two-time Victorian champion in Ladies Standard Saloon racing Nyora’s Trish Dike continues leading the way, great to see two young Ladies and predicted stars of the class for many years to come in Maddi Miles and Elise McKaskill have strong results finishing second and third respectively.

Rhys Lansdown the current Victoria number two driver continues to run at the front of the strongest club for Standard Saloons currently. Nyora has driver after driver that could pick up the win on any night. Lansdown defeated club mates Mark Miles and Andrew Dike

Dylan Barrow won his debut Modified Sedan race after dominating Junior Open Sedans last season. Tristan McGraw also previously was a front runner of the same class; Dale Hallett was third in front of Scott Angus and Bella Rizzoli.

In Top Star SSA Junior Sedans there was an Alexandra club trifecta with River Paterson topping his brother Linken in this one. Bree Simpson finished in third place. In the New Star SSA Junior Sedans Nyora club member Cruz Farrell led a trifecta of fellow members Tyson Heaphy and Jaylen Knight rounded out the top three.

Back-to-Back wins at Nyora for Frank Thierry in the AMCA Nationals, Thierry who came from Mildura to compete loves Nyora and nothing would have changed after another victory. He topped Paul Sullivan, Kent Davey, Stephen Hopkins, and Stewart Grant-Campbell.

In Sports Sedan action Nathan Fawns from the Redline Club got the jump in the final against a field packed with strong Alexandra competitors. Fawns was wrapt with this victory against such competition, Brendan Miller, David Donegan, Lee Beach, and Jamie Thomsen rounded out the top five.

For the Dirt Modifieds a Nyora one, two and three with Victorian champion Daryl Hickson taking the win ahead of Michael Ardley and Matt Reddecliffe. All three have had a lifelong affiliation with the Nyora club. Then came Tyler Scott and Tony Moore to round out the top five.

Nyora’s Harry Cecil looks to be the one to beat for this season’s Victorian title in the Standard Saloons. He has taken the top spot ever since Damon Ingram stepped out of the class. Nathan Miles continues to look like a strong challenger with another second placed result followed by Jack Braz, Chase Ingram, and Tom Braz.

Nyora Raceway is back again December the 17th with Sprintcars headlining the night. SSA Junior Sedans have a state series round also and club classes the Standard Saloons, Ladies Standard Saloons, Junior Standard Saloons and Sports Sedans will be back as will Santa Claus!
