Pro Karting headed to a wet Gippsland Kart Club for the final round of the 2022 Golden Power Series! Pro Karting had an 11-driver team across 7 classes in the final round of the championship and wanted to add more round wins to their 2022 championship!

Alexander Yoannidis and Pip Casabene took on the premier KA3 Junior in their Pro Karting entries. Casabene was able to set nice pace to put himself in position 4 and on the 2nd row of the grid while Yoannidis was down in position 10 and had work to do. Yoannidis starred in the heats charging through to 8th in heat 1, 2nd in heat 2 and took the final heat win going into the final. Casabene had mixed heats, which put him back in the field but a 4th in heat 2 showed he still had the pace to mix it with the front guys. Yoannidis had pressure from behind but was able to hold his nerve and take his 2nd consecutive round victory! Casabene also drove extremely well and made his way to 3rd position by the chequered flag in a double podium for Pro Karting!

Darysn Harris was the sole Pro Karting driver in the KA4 Junior Heavy class but that didn’t stop their chance for victory. Harris put in a stunning effort to take pole position in qualifying and continued his hot form with a win in heat 1 and 2nd in heat 2. Harris was unfortunately involved in an incident in heat 3 while leading the race which put him on the sidelines. Harris bounced back in the final and made his way back onto the podium in 3rd position with the fastest lap of the race!

TAG 125 Restricted Light driver Sebastian Perrone came into the weekend in hot form after his recent victory at the ROK Cup Festival. Perrone started his weekend well grabbing pole position in the all-important qualifying session. Perrone had an unfortunate DNF in heat 1 but bounced back for 2nd spot in both heat 2 and 3 keeping him in the mix. While battling for the lead in the final, Perrone endured heartbreak coming off on the final lap which resulted in a DNF result.

Max Torcasio and recent senior graduate Benjamin Munro took the start for Pro Karting in the KA3 Senior Light class. Both drivers qualified inside the top 10, with Munro in position 6 and Torcasio in position 9. It was different stories for the 2 drivers with Torcasio storming forward in the 3 heats to never leave the top 3, with 3rd in heat 1 and 2 and 2nd in heat 3. Munro had a tough time with a DNF in heat 1 and 2 but recovered for 6th in the final heat to nip at the back of the top 5. Torcasio continued his consistent weekend and was able to come home on the podium in 3rd spot! Munro unfortunately didn’t finish the final in a tough start to the young driver’s senior career.

Lucas Perrone was another single driver Pro Karting attack, this time in TAG 125 Restricted Medium. Perrone set good pace in qualifying to land himself inside the top 5 in 5th position. Perrone got shuffled back in the opening 2 heats with 11th in heat 1 and 8th in heat 2. Perrone made his way back into the top 5 in the final heat and was looking to finish his weekend on a high. Perrone put in another strong performance in the final, just missing the top 5 in 6th position overall.

Pip Casabene and Ayce Buckley took on the KA4 Junior Light class for Pro Karting. Casabene did a superb job in qualifying to put himself on the front row of the grid, with Buckley also inside the top 10 in position 9. Casabene dropped back slightly over the heats but never left the top 5 with 4th in heat 1 and 2 and 5th in heat 3. Buckley had mixed heats including a DNF but a 7th in heat 3 showed he had strong pace to fight with. Casabene put in a stellar drive in the final to work his way forward and cross the line in 2nd position overall! Buckley raced hard but finished just outside the top 10 in position 11 overall.

Will Harper and Jett Buckley took on the ultra-competitive TAG 125 Light class. Both drivers were able to qualify inside the top 5 with Buckley in 3rd and Harper in 5th to be in the hunt. Harper was super consistent in his 3 heats with 4th in heat 1, 2nd in heat 2 and 3rd in heat 3 to have him right in the hunt for the final. Buckley had a tough opening heat but a 3rd in heat 2 showed his excellent pace. Harper was able to make his way forward and take victory in the final round of the series! Buckley finished in position 14 overall after a tough Sunday for the young driver.

Pro Karting team representative Adam Lindstrom spoke post weekend on his team’s excellent weekend. “We were super happy to walk away with two class wins and multiple class podiums after this weekend, in the changeable conditions our guys really nailed it! It’s a credit to our whole team who have had brilliant results in this year’s Golden Power Series and we can’t wait to come back next year”!
