Oscar Singh made another trip interstate over the weekend, this time to the inaugural Patrizicorse ROK Festival out of the Oakleigh Go Kart Club. Singh was taking on a high calibre field of Cadet 12 drivers and was looking forward to his first race on the national circuit!

Singh hit the track on Saturday morning for the all-important qualifying session and was looking to get as far up the grid as possible. Oscar had good pace and worked his way into the top 5 across the session and set the 4th fastest time, which had him off the 2nd row for race 1. Singh didn’t have the start to his racing weekend he was after, dropping down to the edge of the top 10 in the early stages of race 1 and then finishing in 8th position. Oscar bounced back in a big way in race 2, making up 5 positions across the race which put him in 3rd position overall with the fastest lap of the race. The Feature race on Saturday afternoon had Singh settled into 6th spot in the earlier stages and the young driver had work to do across the race to work his way forward. Oscar made his way into the top 5 and then into 4th spot and he was chasing after the top 3. Singh finished the day on Saturday with a nice 4th place overall and he was now looking to Sunday to try and improve on his results.

The rain hit the circuit over night and Oscar had a wet track to deal with for Sunday morning qualifying. Singh didn’t quite have the set up he needed and struggled for pace in the tough conditions and could only set a time fast enough for position 11. Oscar put in one of the races of the weekend in race 4, moving up 9 positions across the 15 laps to grab 2nd position overall. This had him right back in contention for Sunday’s races! Singh battled for the lead and in the lead group in race 5 and was in an intense battle at the front of the field. After the dust settled on 15 laps of hard racing Oscar crossed the line in 4th position which had him off the front row for the all-important Sunday feature. Singh put in an incredible drive in the final to break away from the rest of the field with former state champion James Flynn to battle for victory. Oscar emerged from the last lap chaos to take out the Sunday feature race win!

A 4th place in Saturday’s feature and a win in Sunday’s feature was enough to give Singh 2nd place overall in the Cadet 12 ROK Cup! Oscar spoke post weekend on his fun weekend and strong result. “I’m very happy with my results, it was a great weekend and Oakleigh is an awesome track to race on”. The Pocket Rocket Brothers Oscar and Koda Singh will continue their busy back end to season 2022.
