Singh brothers head to Melbourne
Oscar and Koda Singh took to the 36th running of the City of Melbourne Titles over the weekend. Known by their social media followers and many at the track as the Pocket Rocket Brothers, both drivers came to the Todd Road complex looking for fun racing and strong results. With Koda taking on the Cadet 9 class and Oscar taking on the massive Cadet 12 field, both drivers and their family were in for a busy weekend of racing!
Koda was first to hit the track in the young Cadet 9 class in a field of 20 drivers hitting the track for qualifying. Koda was able to do a brilliant job in qualifying, putting himself inside the top 10. Heat 1 started in dramatic fashion with Singh being involved in a roll over and having to be treated by medical staff. Koda showed his toughness and determination to get back out on circuit for heat 2 and put in a brilliant drive making his way up to position 5. Singh was starting out of position 13 for heat 3 and was on the charge through the field. Koda was up to position 8 mid race when an incident unfortunately put him back in the field where he crossed the line in position 14. Singh put in one of his best drives of the weekend in the final charging up 9 positions and crossing the line in an incredible position 5. Koda spoke post weekend on how he was happy with his result after a tough start on Saturday. โVery happy with my results considering how the weekend started!”
Oscar was next to hit the track in the near full 36 kart field of Cadet 12. Singh was able to do a good job in qualifying just missing the top 15 drivers in position 16 overall. Oscarโs weekend started in unfortunate fashion not finishing the opening heat, but rebounded to finish in position 17 in heat 2, to have him down in position 25 to start heat 3. Singh didnโt get the start he was looking for in heat 3 and dropped down a few spots but was able to cross the line in position 25 in the final heat. Oscar put in a storming drive in the 17 lap final, quickly making his way into the top 15 drivers. Singhโs progress didnโt stop their pushing hard and getting on to the back of the top 10 drivers as the race went on. Oscar crossed the line in position 9 making up 16 positions across the race in a brilliant drive. Oscar spoke post weekend and was delighted with his drive in the final. โIโm extremely happy finishing in the top 10 considering I was in the back of the field all weekendโ.
The Pocket Rocket Brothers will be back at the Newcastle Kart Club next weekend to contest the final round of the SP Tools Australian Kart Championship.
