This video was special to us, we wanted to take the time to really portray the importance of this family in the sport of Drag Racing in Western Australia. We really hope you enjoy this, and a big thankyou to the McClures for helping with the write up below. Wayne and the whole Keys family are absolute stalwarts of W.A Drag Racing for 30 plus years. His first real race car was his home built LX Torana Hatch that he had great success running in Supergas in W.A and around the country. He then spent some time crewing on the Boston Strangler Funny Car (Which still races to this day).. Before purchasing a Murray Anderson Doorslammer Chassis, fitting a BMW body to it and then campaigning it in the AA/AP class. Some years later a Monaro body was fitted to this chassis and went on to set National Records many times, becoming the first AP car into the 5 sec zone. He also won the Australian Championship in 2013. The Monaro finished with an awesome best ET of 5.83, which was faster than a lot of Doorslammers at the time. Wayne then decided he needed a new car and set about importing a Tim McAmis Promod Chassis kit. He proceeded to build an absolute work of art with his very talented crew and family and of which you will see as featured in this video. The Camaro won back to back WA Championships and Wayne reset his own National Record to a 5.86 - capping off a brillant career. We hope you all enjoy this as much as we do, and we wish Wayne, Lisa and the Keys Family and Team a well earned retirement. But we do hope to see you all down the track for many more years!
