Despite a very choppy year for motorsport in Australia, Motorsport Australia was still able to award state winners of the Officials of the Year to the majority of the states, with some states announcing other awards such as Service Stars and Service Awards.
In Western Australia the Official of the Year award was split between Lynn and Ross Oxwell who are well known around the rallying discipline, whilst in South Australia another rallying official and also competitor, Kevin Raedel took home the Official of the Year award.
In New South Wales Olive Johnson was awarded the Official of the Year for her service and dedication to motorsport. Having served on the New South Wales Panel for the past 10 years, the always enthusiastic and reliable Robinson has also spent time recently doing administration work.
Tasmania’s recipient was Matthew von Bertouch who is a key member of the Rally Tasmania organising ream and primarily responsible for the setting of the course. He has been a vital administrator for the Motor Sports Club of Tasmania, organising a range of grassroot and state events for many years.
In Victoria, the Official of the Year recipient went to Nicholas Scarcella who you may remember from Episode 0015 of Behind the Sport podcast. An outstanding contributor to the Phillip Island Auto Racing Club last year, the club Vice President went above and beyond in assisting the organisation of events in its return to racing, including the club’s long awaited return to motorsport in November.
