The Australian Racing Group and Bathurst Regional Council have jointly announced that the inaugural Bathurst International event will now be expanded to four days to allow proper running of all the original categories, plus the inclusion of the postponed Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 hour event which was originally supposed to run over the Easter long weekend.

The 6 Hour race for production cars will be run on Saturday. The other classes that are confirmed to compete include TCR Australia, S5000, Touring Car Masters and the Trans Am Series, as well last the Holden Heritage class that could bring up to 100 Holden race cars back to the mountain that made them famous.

Bathurst International Event Director Ken Collier is pleased that the Bathurst Regional Council has agreed to expand the event to four days.

“By including the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour and most of the Easter feature categories into the Bathurst International we needed at least one extra day,” said Collier.

“Fortunately, the Bathurst Regional Council agreed, and I thank the Council and residents for their support. The final schedule is being worked on now and will be distributed as soon as possible.

“We will consider the cost of attending the event in terms of team’s accommodation etc. Not all categories will need to be at the event for all 4 days.

“I can announce that the re-scheduled Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour will be run on Saturday 14th. The race will have live free-to-air coverage on the channels off Seven and live streaming on the 7plus application. ARG will offer the live Streaming to other media outlets so that it receives worldwide cover.”

Collier says that ARG is playing a ‘wait and see’ game in terms of public gathers, including spectators and campers.

“We do not know what the public gathering restriction situation will be in November,” he said.

“We will obviously comply with all regulations and guidelines. Regardless of any requirements we will have a comprehensive event Health and Safety process in place with good hygiene being promoted or enforced as appropriate.”

The Bathurst International will be held around the famous mountain circuit on November 12-15.

While the International was already shaping up to be a fantastic addition to the Australian motorsport calendar, the inclusion of the 6 hour plus free to air coverage will surely make this event one of the premier events for the 2020 motorsport calendar.
